The False Creek High Performance Dragon Boat (FCHPDB) program focuses on growing talent and building a broad base of athletes who achieve success nationally and internationally in dragon boat competition.  The program provides opportunities for athletes who aspire to train and race at an elite level and to represent Canada in the sport of dragon boating.

The goals of the FCHPDB program are:

  • To produce successful international competitors in men's, women's and mixed divisions;
  • To develop new and continuing talent by providing a rewarding and challenging training environment that includes working with world-class coaches with extensive international racing experience;
  • To provide opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest level of dragon boat competition in the world.

The training program for the FCHPDB program includes on-water and dry-land training in both dragon boat and outrigger 1-person and 6-person canoes.  Team selection is made based on fitness testing, on-water time trials, and demonstrated technical fit, fitness and racing abilities in a dragon boat.
