False Creek High Performance Dragon Boat Program

You're athletic, competitive and thrive on constantly challenging yourself to be better.  You're interested in getting into the sport of dragon boat and are looking for a supportive environment to help you develop and grow as a paddler.  Or, you've already been paddling dragon boat for a while and are looking to build on your skills, expand your race experiences and become a faster, stronger paddler.  Then, the False Creek High Performance Dragon Boat (FCHPDB) program needs you!

The FCHPDB program is the training ground for athletes of all skill levels in the sport of dragon boat.  The program provides its athletes with lots of opportunities to learn and gain experiences as a competitive paddler.  Some of the benefits of joining the FCHPDB program are

 

• Training under the direction of some of the best coaches in BC, who have achieved recognition nationally and internationally as paddlers and coaches;
• Following a comprehensive training program that includes both on-water (3-4 dragon boat practices per week, plus individual training in outrigger) and dry-land (cardio and weights) training;
• Receiving constant feedback through on-water coaching, video analysis, time trials and fitness testing;
• Having opportunities to cross-train and race in outrigger canoe (both 1-person and 6-person), kayak, and marathon canoe;
• Paying an affordable membership fee that includes year-round (September to September) training and coaching;
• Working in a supportive, encouraging environment of athletes with similar mindset, driven by the desire to go fast and win big;
• Learning from accomplished athletes in the program who have raced in national and international competition and who are willing to share their experiences with program members;
• Attending practices with a large turnout of enthusiastic, dedicated paddlers, which means there is usually two full dragon boats filled with FCHPDB program members out on the water at a time;
• Being empowered to take on leadership roles within the program through volunteering and mentoring;
• Having opportunities to race at the local, national and international levels in men's, women's, and mixed divisions;
• Being a member of a program that is greatly respected by dragon boat communities locally, nationally, and internationally.
